On this week’s podcast we spoke with Katie Kitiri, from online UK food retailer Yumbles, about Veganuary.

We also talked to Charlie Hyland from INTL FCStone for their weekly update on the global dairy market.

Yumbles

Yumbles is an online company in the UK that connects artisan food companies to consumers all around the country. It’s a bit like a market, where people go to discover all different kinds of foods under one roof.

The company sent out a press release on Veganuary, as some of its products are by artisan makers of plant-based foods, including dairy alternatives.

However, it’s not a vegan marketplace, as many of the companies the site covers are dairy cheese makers.

Yumbles, which was founded in 2013 by husband and wife team Simos Kitiris and Katie Kitiri, has more than 16,800 products on its site, from almost 2,800 food makers around the UK.  Orders on the site – and delivery – are done through the individual producer as opposed to directly through Yumbles. The company also has subscription services for repeat ordering.

Food producers can also apply to have their products listed on the site.

As well as offering a variety of food products, there are also articles and recipes for consumers.
