The future of Australian milk co-operative Dairy Farmers hangs in the balance as members decide whether to approve a take-over by National Foods; one of the country’s largest food and beverage groups.

At least, 75 per cent of the co-op’s members must agree if the takeover by National Foods, owned by Japan’s Kirin Holdings, is to go ahead. The bid is likely to be successful, according to co-op executives.

Meanwhile, Australian public broadcaster ABC has reported that the buy-out would be in the best interests of shareholders, confirms an independent assessment commissioned from financial specialists Grant Samuel and Associates.
