Friesland to sell Kaasfabriek Eyssen

Friesland Foods has announced plans to shave off its Kaasfabriek Eyssen business to Kaptein, as it is not a core part of its cheese-making operations.

Under Vision 2015, Friesland Foods sees its cheese business as focusing on the development, production, packing and selling of semi-hard Dutch natural and rindless cheeses.

This means Kaasfabriek Eyssen is left out in the cold, since it produces processed and smoked cheese and cheese spreads.

Kaptein is a cheese and butter importer-exporter, and a supplier to the professional market. The two companies have worked together for a number of years.

It is expected that the transaction will be completed by the end of December 2008.
