Dutch dairy giant Friesland Coberco is to expand its investment in Africa. This decision follows thirty years of strong performance by the West African Milk Company (WAMCO) in Nigeria, in which Friesland is the majority stakeholder.

A new warehouse/loading bay has been commissioned, which should ensure the continued success of WAMCO.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the managing director of WAMCO Nigeria, Theo Spierings, said that the company would continue to expand and invest in the country's dairy business and contribute to the economic development of Nigeria.

He cited construction of the company's ultra-modern warehouse as part of its expansion project. The value of the proposed investment has not been disclosed.

WAMCO Nigeria is the major producer of milk in Nigeria. Its brands include Peak and Three Crowns Milk.
