In the last week ailing Italian dairy giant Parmalat has launched legal actions against several banks in a bid to recover bank fees and debt proceeds.

Parmalat Finanziaria administrator Enrico Bondi plans to sue Deutsche Bank for €17m related to bond issues in the second half of 2003, the Wall Street Journal Europe reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.

The report follows a €290m action against the UBS bank filed at the end of July, and another in the US against Citigroup for a reported $8-10bn. Mr. Bondi alleges Citigroup assisted Parmalat's previous management in defrauding shareholders.

The bankrupt dairy group Parmalat is estimated to owe about €14.5bn to its creditors.
