A new tamper-proof flavouring pump for food and beverage processors offers accurate multiple flow rates, while reducing downtime needed for washdowns, its manufacturer claims.

UK-based Watson-Marlow Bredel claims its 313D pumphead, allows processors to add flavours and other liquids at flow ranges between 0.25 and 3000 ml/min at pressures up to 30 psi.

Seven different tube sizes can be fitted to the pump, with multiple flow channels stacked up to six deep.

The pump can dispense at an accuracy rate of about 99.5 per cent, displacing flavours into coffee and milkshakes for example, with no siphoning required, claims the manufacturer.

To prevent tampering, the 313D pumphead features secure clamps that also allow easier clearance during loading, the company claims.

The pumphead has no valves and is self-priming, which reduce the risk of contamination.

The pump can run dry without incurring damage and can be cleaned at full velocity in-line.

Washdowns and downtime are reduced because the pump can be cleaned without the need for dismantling, unlike competing products, Watson-Marlow Bredel claims.

The loading process requires uses to slide open the track to expose the rotor, place the tubing over the rotor, and slide the track down.

The tubing is ‘clamped and stretched’ as the track clicks shut, to ensure secure fastening.

Tubing is available in several materials suitable for food and beverage processing, including Marprene and Bioprene.

The pump’s OEM-style, panel-mount gear motors and speed controls are available in AC, DC, or stepper versions.

The 313D is available with a choice of three or four rollers and fixed or variable tube clamps.

The pump is also available in a private label version.

Watson-Marlow Bredel are part of the Spirax Sarco Group, which has opperations in 32 countries.
