Greiner Packaging has developed a green version of its K3 packaging technology – a new plastic-cardboard combination for cups and tubs.

Suitable for yoghurt pots and other dairy and beverage applications, the K3-E is being marketed on its environmental credentials.

This starts with the materials but also extends to the design. Greiner said the K3-E packaging is mostly made of renewable raw materials, and is extremely low in weight.

Also, for ease of recycling, the plastic and cardboard components can be easily separated thanks to a specially designed tear-off strip.

Tobias Strasser, head of division K at Greiner Packaging, said: “This packaging solution – in combination with our technology – is the perfect answer to the current mega trends in consumption: Individuality and ecological awareness.”
