Canadian company Agropur Cooperative Agro-Alimentaire announced plans to acquire the Deutsch Kase Haus cheese plant, giving the dairy co-operative its first foothold in the US market, reports the Globe and Mail.
The plant processes 60 million litres of milk per year into Colby, Colby-Jack, Monterey-Jack and Pepper-Jack cheeses. Pierre Robert, president of Agropur's fine cheese division, said the purchase will boost sales of the division by 25 per cent.
