The dairy trade association expressed its disappointment at the government decision, announced in the Pre Budget Report, to reduce the rate of relief from 80 per to 65 per cent. It said the move would cost dairy companies £1m per year from 1 April 2011.
“As the Copenhagen summit puts the spotlight firmly on climate change it is extraordinary that the UK government is mixing its messages and reducing fiscal incentives for action,” said Dairy UK energy savings chairman, Gerry Sweeney.
