Fonterra will help pick up the milk from the 27 farmers who were left without a processor when their co-op went into receivership.
“The New Zealand dairy industry has a long history of co-operation, so this is a time to look for a practical solution so that no milk is dumped,” said Tim Deane, Fonterra’s general manager for milk supply.
NZODFC collapsed two weeks after the resignation of chief executive Patrick Geals. New Zealand press reports said board members and farmers had been in dispute over whether to turn to external investors to help resolve cash flow problems.
