Scottish dairy firm Robert Wiseman is offering a one-off winter weather bonus of £100 to 3,500 of its 4,500 workers.

The additional payment, which will cost Wiseman £400,000, is a reward for hourly paid staff who worked long hours and weekends to maintain production during the period of heavy snow and extreme cold in December and January.

Robert Wiseman, the dairy’s chief executive, said: “In the past few weeks, our staff met every challenge thrown at them. We successfully delivered record orders for milk during some of the worst weather conditions we have ever experienced.

“Our customers have expressed their appreciation, and we wanted to say thank you to our staff for their attitude, commitment and dedication in extreme conditions.”
