The machine handles more than 40 tons a day. It takes products from three production lines and puts them on pallets ready for delivery.
“Our installation palletises from three lines at the same time and sorts the various products onto the right pallets,” said Fredrik Bergman, production support specialist, Norrmejerier.
In the cold store
Moving milk cartons, cream and sour cream, and other products in the cold store had been done manually before. Packs were placed onto pallets from trolleys, such as 12kg packs of 1L milk cartons.
Orders from catering companies, such as 10L and 20L packs of milk, were also placed manually onto pallets before being transferred to another cold store on the premises.
“None of us miss the days before the multi-palletiser,” said Bergman. “It is a huge advantage to the working environment and many backs have been spared the heavy lifts.”
Norrmejerier had assistance from engineers at DAN-Palletiser, which is based in Denmark.
“When I had the opportunity to study similar installations I made good use of getting an understanding of different technologies, and quite early on in the process I got an idea of the machine that would suit us,” Bergman added.
