Fonterra recalls cheese slices due to packaging fault
The cheese slices were sold in supermarkets, food service outlets and dairies throughout the North Island and some of the recalled cheese has also been sold in Fiji.
Baden Ngan Kee, Fonterra Brands New Zealand sales director, said that the decision to recall the product follows two reported incidents of thin strips of the plastic wrapping sticking to the cheese when it is unwrapped.
“After an investigation, we have found a fault with the product’s packaging. The plastic wrapping of individual slices may split into thin strips causing a potential hazard if consumed. There have been no reports of anyone being harmed.”
The Mainland Tasty Individually Wrapped Flavoured Processed Cheese Slices in 250g packets have a Best before date of 28 February 2014.
