Tetra Pak analysts Anna Larsson, Bettina Scatamachia and Kristina de Verdier look at five global emerging trends – and what this means for food packaging.
Sustainability is a ‘driving force’ for food and beverage producers: issues of concern include the environment, people, animals and nature.
Analysts say, “Being eco-friendly has evolved from just using brown packaging (even though this is still popular), earthy colours and textured paper, and become more diverse. Brands are moving away from the clichés, daring to build their organic ranges with vibrant, colourful and fresh design cues.
Sustainability has become something consumers expect. “We see innovative approaches like eating insects and edible food packaging, while non-dairy protein beverages including soy, rice and oat are becoming increasingly popular. Organic beer, wine, coffee and tea are other categories expected to grow fast."
