Azerbaijan Ministry of Agriculture signs agreement on dairy products
The work will fall under the framework of the project "Strengthening Competitiveness of Agricultural Competitiveness," implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture together with the World Bank.
The Ministry said the agreement will develop dairy products in the country.
Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov, who signed the agreement on behalf of the Azerbaijan government, said the dairy market is of great importance for the country's economy.
Growing sector in Azerbaijan
He noted that over the last few years, as well as other fields of agriculture, attention to the livestock sector has increased.
"Creating large cattle breeding complexes in the country is the basis of the dairy products value chain,” Minister Asadov said.
“Therefore, we are working on creating projects for the creation of large livestock enterprises in several regions of the country, along with major producers, developing small-scale household farms, ensuring food security and integrating with family farms for the processing of products," he said.
Two-phase process
The Minister said the component "Milk Products Value Chain Development" will be implemented in two stages.
In the first stage, the dairy market of the country will be assessed and recommendations on targeted support will be prepared.
During the second stage, projects for the creation of large and medium-sized farms and enterprises for dairy products will be proposed.
