Neogen has strengthened its presence in the cleaner and disinfectant markets with the acquisition of two companies.

Financial details for the buy of Preserve International and Tetradyne, sister companies owned and operated by the private Preserve International Corporation, were not disclosed.

Preserve and Tetradyne offer the food processing industry cleaners, disinfectants, and associated products.

Preserve has focused on the swine, poultry and food processing markets, and Tetradyne's major area has been in dairy.

The company holds patents on disinfectant technologies and more than 100 EPA/FDA registered products.

James Herbert, Neogen's CEO and chairman, said adding Preserve's products, complementary expertise and customer base strengthened its cleaner and disinfectant presence.

“Their sales channels are almost identical to our existing animal safety distribution, and represent an easy fit with our sales and marketing operations."

Neogen will operate Preserve's manufacturing facilities in Memphis, Tennessee and Turlock, California. Staff will continue under Neogen’s ownership in existing locations.

Gary Gaumer, Preserve International's president, said Neogen was the ‘optimum choice’ to take business to the next level.

"Neogen's focus on biosecurity for the agricultural markets aligns very closely with our mission. We look forward to accelerating our growth now as part of a combined organization."
