Lactalis McLelland, producers of Seriously Strong, Galloway and McLelland cheese brands in the UK, has been awarded both the brand and retailer own brand cheddar tender for the Co-op retailer.

The deal will see a range of Seriously Strong cheddar listed in Co-op stores from April 2017 and Lactalis McLelland will supply  own brand product later this year.

Seriously Strong cheddar is produced, cut and packed at the Lactalis McLelland dairy in Stranraer, Scotland.

The range of branded products will include Seriously Strong Extra Mature, Seriously Strong Mature, Seriously Strong Mature Lighter and Seriously Strong Vintage.

Mike Chatters, sales director at Lactalis McLelland, said the deal is a good platform for the company’s Seriously Strong brand, given the Co-op’s extensive network of convenience stores throughout the UK.

He added it was also positive for the dairy in Stranraer and the community.

Calum Kirk, category trading manager at Co-op, said the retailer was proud to support British dairy farming.
