Kraft Foods recalls string cheese in US over ‘premature spoilage’
Kraft Foods is recalling approximately 735,000 cases of Kraft and Polly-O brand string cheese varieties in the US over concerns that the products may spoil before their ‘Best When Used By’ dates.

The company ordered the recall, which was detailed in a notice posted on the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website, following a number of complaints from consumers of “premature spoilage.”

“These products may spoil before their ‘Best When Used By’ code dates, leading to product discoloration. The affected products all have code dates from October 25, 2013 through February 11, 2014,” said the notice.

It added that none of the products affected by the recall were distributed in Canada, and that production at its plant in Campbell, New York and distribution has been brought to a halt.

“Kraft has ceased the production and distribution of the affected products from the relevant facility as the company continues its investigation to resolve the problem,” the notice said.
