Hanoi Milk Joint Stock Company’s IZZI milk, which includes nutrients aimed to help the development of Vietnamese children, has received recognition at the Global Food Industry Awards in Dublin, Ireland.

IZZI milk received international recognition in the Product and Process Innovation category and the Communicating Scientific Knowledge to Consumers category.

Launched in April 2013, IZZI milk is a natural product developed specifically for the Vietnamese market, to address the issue of stunting (malnourishment and micronutrient deficiency) in Vietnamese children.

The condition is caused by a diet that is often lower in nutrients, micronutrients and minerals.

IZZI milk contains Palatinose, which Hanoimilk claims provides prolonged energy supply for the brain, and Synergy 1, which it claims increases calcium and other mineral absorption.

The Global Food Industry Awards are reviewed and determined by the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST).

Consumed by more than 10m children

Dr Hà Quang Tuấn, Hanoimilk’s chairman and CEO said that research started in 2001 on how to include more nutrients in the daily diet of Vietnamese children.

The result of the research was IZZI milk, which combines added micronutrients and minerals including iron and zinc, and is now consumed by more than 10m children in Vietnam.

Declan Troy, chairman of IUFoST 2016 said that Hanoimilk is an example of a company that has embraced innovation rather than advancing on a wide commodity basis.
