French company Ingredia and its parent group, the cooperative Prosperité Fermière, have signed a strategic partnership with WWF France to reduce the impacts and negative environmental factors of dairy production.

Ingredia is one of the biggest global players in the production of dairy ingredients for the agri-food, nutrition and health industries.

A partnership for a more sustainable dairy sector

By engaging in a three-year partnership with WWF France, Ingredia said it is working towards a partnership to develop a more sustainable dairy sector.

The companies said their commitments cover three objectives: milk produced by cows fed 100% without GMOs; cows raised on pasture; and respect for animal welfare.

WWF France’s Marie-Christine Korniloff said the organization will work with Prosperité Fermière and Ingredia to identify priority environmental issues to reduce the ecological footprint of dairy production.

Initially, the objectives will be tested for a year on a limited number of farms. Depending on the results obtained in terms of social, economic and environmental impacts, the program can be deployed on a larger scale.

Gilles Desgrousilliers, president of Prosperité Fermière and Ingredia, said the 1,600 members of the cooperative are already implementing environmentally-friendly husbandry practices.
