Select Milk Producers to splash $250m converting denim mill into dairy plant
US dairy cooperative Select Milk Producers plans to convert a Texas denim mill into a US$250m milk processing facility.

Select Milk Producers, owned primarily by dairy farmers across Texas, New Mexico and the Midwest, has acquired the former American Cotton Growers denim mill in Littlefield, Texas, the Southwest Council of Agribusiness announced earlier this week.

The American Cotton Grower denim mill, established in 1975, closed its doors in January 2015, with a reported loss of 340 jobs.

Select Milk Producers plans to spend US$250m converting the former denim mill into a “state-of-the-art” milk processing plant, the Southwest Council of Agribusiness added.

Rance Mills, chief financial officer, Select Milk Producer, confirmed the the plans during a brief call with DairyReporter yesterday.

New Mexico-based Select Milk Producers is perhaps best known for Fairlife - its joint venture with the Coca-Cola Company.

The joint venture produces Fairlife and Core Power brand products.
