New York State ‘officially’ US yogurt capital – NY governor
New York State – the home of Chobani, Fage USA, and Muller Quaker Dairy – is officially America’s capital of yogurt production, the state’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, has claimed.

According to a statement issued by Governor Cuomo’s office earlier this month, New York State can now confidently claim the title after overtaking California as the country’s biggest producer of yogurt in 2012.

Last year, yogurt manufacturers in New York State produced 692m pounds of yogurt, according to the governor’s office – exceeding the 587m pounds of yogurt produced in California.

“The new New York State us a place where businesses can grow and thrive, and the fact that New York State is now, for the first time ever, the nation’s leader in yogurt production demonstrates that our efforts to open the state’s doors to business and grow the private sector are truly working,” said Cuomo.

“With New York State officially being crowned Yogurt Capital of America, it is clear that our approach to growing the economy and creating an entrepreneurial government is paying off.”
