TINE says its first round of dairy-related product launches for the Norwegian market for 2016 respond to consumers' demands for products with less fat and sugar and more protein.

Among the dairy products, TINE Yoghurt Filling is a new range of yogurts, low in fat and rich in protein. The product comes in three flavors; natural, vanilla and passion fruit, the latter representing a new flavor in yogurts. The flavored varieties contain 30% less sugar per 100g than similar products.

Responding to trends

To meet the global trend in flavored cheeses, TINE is launching Norvegia with spices - a new product with two flavors - paprika (sweet pepper) and pepper (the spice).

Another international trend, according to TINE, is children’s yogurts with vegetables. According to a market research study from May 2015, parents are looking for a drinking yogurt with fruit, berries and vegetables rather than one with just fruit and berries.

In response, TINE is introducing Sprett Pluss Drikkeyoghurt, which contains 25% fruit, berry juice and vegetables. The yogurt is a blend of grapes, strawberries, apple and carrot. It is sweetened with 1% sugar and fruit juice concentrate, adding up to a total of 4% added sugars.

The Sprett yogurt is free from E-numbers, fortified with vitamin D and rich in calcium, protein and vitamin B12.

Celebrating the Olympics

To celebrate the Olympics in Rio in 2016, Biola with coconut and cupuaçu (a fruit that grows in the Amazon rainforest) is a new flavor to the market. The packaging also has a strong Brazilian look.

To combat the slight decline in the traditional sweet goat cheese consumption, TINE worked with the international fashion brand Moods of Norway to create a limited edition design for their goat cheese products that will be available in stores until May.

TINE Kefir Organic, Ryfylkegome and three Biola variants all come in re-designed packaging.

Cheese additions

Fryd Brie Gourmet is a new brie cheese on the market.

A reduced fat variant of the soft cream cheese brand Snøfrisk with 15% fat is now available. It is made of milk from goats that graze near the "Sunnmørsalpene" mountains in the West.

Ostecompagniet has expanded its portfolio with two Italian specialty cheeses - Parmigiano, a Parmesan stored for 22 months, and Mozzarella.
