Global Dairy Trade says its GDT Marketplace has grown strongly over the past quarter, with a 40% increase in buyers and doubling of sellers since our June update.

GDT Marketplace now has 233 registered buyers and 10 registered sellers from the US, Western Europe, Oceania and Asia.

Eric Hansen, director of Global Dairy Trade, said sellers are responding to the intuitive nature of the GDT Marketplace platform.

“Sellers like GDT Marketplace because the platform makes it easy to communicate product range and availability to a global pool of credible buyers, and discover new demand,” Hansen said.

“The platform also provides a level of confidentiality that has won sellers’ confidence. Each new seller operates privately on the platform until they request that their name is announced publicly.”

Butter still strong

The announcement comes as the most recent GDT event saw the price index rise 0.9%.

The biggest gains were for anhydrous milk fat, up 5.3%, average price $6,764/MT, and butter, up 1.2%, average price $6,026/MT.

Cheddar, lactose, rennet casein and skim milk powder all dropped compared to the previous event.
