Danish dairy opts for Amcor flexible packaging

One of Denmark's largest food trading companies, F. Uhrenholt Dairy, has chosen Amcor's EasyPack system for its new Friendship brand of grated cheese - Mozzarella Danesa.

The patented Amcor EasyPack system from Amcor Flexibles has an individually designed pack configuration combined with peelable materials, to give a practical solution for easy opening and reclosure.

A peelable, airtight lapseal is achieved between coextruded OPP and a special PE so that the easy-open feature is built into the laminate without the need to use extra material. The overlap seal peels away easily when pulled, thus making the packs simple and safe to open without the need for scissors or a knife. The packs are re-closed with an adhesive tape.

Featuring reverse printed six colours flexo by Amcor Flexibles Raackmann in Denmark, the Mozzarella Danesa packs have a clear window to allow the consumer to see the product before purchase. The recloseability of Amcor EasyPack ensures not only that freshness is maintained but also that the Friendship brand identity is retained throughout the life of the product, Amcor claims.

Produced on a vertical packaging machine from PFM/BG-Pack at Poppinga Kaeseservice in Germany, the packs are exported to a number of countries throughout Europe.

According to independent consumer tests, the EasyPack proved to be the preferred solution over zip packs and many companies in Europe are now using the system for products ranging from cheese, confectionery and dried fruit to meat and pet food.
