Dairy Crest has awarded a three-year contract renewal worth £5 million to Chep, a provider of pallet and consumer pooling services.

Chep, who will supply Dairy Crest with an additional 80,000 pallet flows per year for bulk products such as buttermilk and cream, has been supplying the company for over 15 years.

The two companies have implemented an initiative to reduce costs and waste by eliminating the use of the one-way pallet.

Packaging and raw materials coming from Europe will be on CHEP pallets, which Dairy Crest will then reuse for exporting finished goods.
