In the early 1970s Gervais Danaone and Unilever Limited launched pudding/ice cream base individual serving packaged products in Southern France. Distributed chilled, the consumer could place the product in the home freezer, i.e. "ready to freeze" if desired. Ingredients and process technologies have changed since then.
