New flavour for yoghurt drink
yoghurt drink Hitghurt, revamped last year to give it greater
appeal to health-conscious consumers.
Austrian dairy Tirol Milch is to add a new flavour to its probiotic yoghurt drink Hitghurt, as part of the relaunch of the product completed last summer.
Hitghurt Drink was initially introduced to the Austrian market in summer 1998 and underwent a complete relaunch in summer 2002. The packaging was changed from cardboard to a PET bottle with a twist lock, and the fat content reduced from 1 per cent to 0 per cent.
The dairy company said it will replace the Apple/Carrot variety with another flavour in the spring. The new flavour has not yet been finalised. The drink also comes in Peach/Passion Fruit flavour, and both are available in a 500g bottle.
The drink is targeted at health-conscious consumers. It contains both acidophilus and bifidus bacteria, which have been shown to benefit the balance of the intestinal flora and strengthen the immune system.
The company also markets a probiotic yoghurt, Pro Frucht, and the Hitghurt yoghurt, a probiotic fruit yoghurt with cereals and grains. The yoghurt has the added probiotic culture lactobacillus casei and contains fibre. It is also suitable for diabetics as it only contains fructose and sweeteners.
