The Latvian dairy industry has a received a major boost following the conclusion of talks between Rigas Piensaimnieks and the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company.

Rigas Piensaimnieks (RPS), one of the largest dairies in the country, is to manufacture and distribute fruit ice cream to Greece and Albania carrying the Coca-Cola brand Amita Fun.

RPS was selected by the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company after an extensive evaluation of ice cream manufacturers across Europe. Founded in 1993, the dairy currently produces nearly 100 different products.

The company also accounts for 40 per cent of the Latvian ice cream market and 30 per cent of all milk products in the country.

The Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, which is one of the largest beverage makers in Europe, operates in 26 countries. Last year the company generated a turnover of €3.56 billion.

The Latvian-made ice cream could reach the Greek and Albanian markets within days.
