DSM Food Specialties will be presenting a number of innovative products this November at FiE when it launches new ingredients claimed to enhance the bakery, dairy, vegan and confectionery industries.

DSM are planning to make a big impression in Germany this year by launching new bakery enzymes, LAFTI probiotics for dairy and dietary supplements and a vegan flavour claimed to enhance the meaty profile for vegetarian products.

The joint venture between DSM and Tosoh, Holland Sweetner Company, which manufacture and sell aspartame will also be highlighting Twinsweet. The new intense sweetener is approximately 350 times sweeter than sugar and suitable for application in instant powder drinks, dairy, confectionery and table-top sweeteners.

DSM's Savoury Ingredients business unit will also be launching products under its Maxavor and Maxarome portfolio of savoury building blocks. These include the yeast-based Maxavor Rye M series of vegan ingredients to coinside with the company's existing portfolio of process flavours.

Catering for demand for low salt diets, Maxavor Rye ABLS, a low sodium process flavour and Maxarome Plus LS and Plus MS, a low and medium sodium natural flavour enhancer, will also be presented. Both products are non-GM, free from additives and available for both Kosher and Halal diets.

For the bakery industry DSM's business unit Baking Enzymes will be presenting its recently launched Bakezyme BXP 5000 and Bakezyme BXP 5001, two key bacterial xylanases for baking.

Both products are claimed to improve gluten extensibility as well as dough tolerance, adding value to bread by improving oven-spring, crumb structure and softness as well as increasing volume.

Suitable for use in dairy drinks, yoghurts and dietary supplements, DSM's second-generation LAFTI probiotic strains will also be on show. Marketed for their ability to survive processing, storage and passage through the acidic gastro-intestinal tract, LAFTI strains are claimed to deliver more live bacteria to the GI tract to promote health and a general feeling of well-being.
