Earlier in the year the company joint forces with Cussons, the UK group best known for its Imperial Leather soap, to produce and market milk powder for the Nigerian market. And has been also been linked with the Latin American market following an agreement with Uruguayan dairy co-op Conaprole.
Milk Link is the fourth largest integrated dairy business in the UK. It is owned by 2,400 members that farm across the south of England and produces a range of products that reach major multiple retailers and specialist retail outlets. Its products range from yoghurt drinks to soft cheese and is the UK's largest producer of UHT.
Glanbia is an Ireland based international food company that claims to rank among the world's leading dairy businesses, with strong international positions in cheese and nutritional dairy ingredients. The company has said that it is committed to continuing its role in the UK's cheese sector regardless of the outcome of the talks.
The companies said that the discussions are ongoing and no conclusions have yet been reached.
