Bodine Electric Company's claims its new additions to the
Pacesetter selection of inverter duty gearmotors aid food and
beverage processing where space is limited, or high torque
required.

The family-owned business, headquartered in Chicago, has introduced three new gearheads - 3RD, HG and CG - that can be applied to food processing equipment, conveyor systems and factory automation. High torque The type 3RD is a double-reduction gearhead designed for applications that require very slow rotation and very high torque, which refers to its rotational force. Bodine claims the machine enables a production output from 0.5 up to 8.5 RPM, with gear ratios from 200:1 to 3,600:1. This means a relatively small motor can produce up to 148 lb-in of torque. Hollow shaft versions are also available. Limited space The type HG gearmotor features an offset drive shaft that Bodine claims makes it suitable for applications where space is limited. The design of the gearhead allows it to be face-mounted from either side. It can apparently produce output from 16 to 63 RPM, with gear ratios of 27:1 to 108:1, and up to 1,000 lb-in continuous torque. High performance Type CG was designed for higher than usual performance. It has a larger output of between 24 and 85 RPM with gear ratios from 20:1 to 72:1 and up to 1,000 lb-in of torque. Hollow shaft versions are also available. Insualtion All Bodine's gearmotors feature its Quintsulation 5-stage insulation system, which it claims protects the motor from potential spikes or corona damage caused by the inverter. Pacesetter gearmotors are CSA certified and in compliance with the Low Voltage Directive DE. Bodine offers over 1,000 standard products and thousands of custom designed fractional horsepower electric motors, gearmotors and motion controls. It operates in Illinois, Chicago, and Peosta, Iowa.
