Senior management changes at Arla

Arla will reoganise its senior management team from October, in a move that it says will shorten decision-making timeframes and devliver the DKK 75bn turnover growth demanded by its strategy to 2015.

Until now Arla's core Swedish and Danish markets have been grouped within Consumer Nordic, but now each country will have a separate business group, with a seat each on the executive management group alongside a representative from the company's third core market, in the UK.

Operations in the three countries account for close to two-thirds of Arla's total turnover.

Consumer Sweden (CSE) will be led by Christer Åberg, and Consumer Denmark (CDK) headed-up by Peter Giørtz Carlsen, both at executive vice president level.

Meanwhile, Andreas Lundy and Hans Åke Hammarström (both senior managers within the soon to be defunct Consumer Nordic) will retire from the executive management group.

”We originally formed Consumer Nordic to exploit synergies in markets that to a large degree are driven by fresh products,” Arla ceo Peder Tuborgh said.

“But fresh products are no longer a primarily Nordic affair. With core markets such as Germany and Holland offering a full range of fresh products, product development must be driven globally, while sales, production and logistics are driven nationally in close contact with customers.”

Finland will also become an independent business unit reporting to Christer Åberg.
