January - 'Cheese makes you chubby, US billboards scream'
Towards the end of January, the US-based Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) took shock tactics to consumers by posting two huge billboards in New York warning of what it claimed were the obesity-related dangers of eating cheese.
Warning that cheese, in particular, posed a health and contributed to the area’s high obesity rates, PCRM president Neil Barnard said: “Typical cheeses are 70% fat. And the type of fat they hold is mainly saturated fat, the kind that increases your risk of heart disease and diabetes.
