A Northern Irish dairy business has tasted success after its strawberry and balsamic cheesecake ice cream was recognised by an international awards body.

Fivemiletown Creamery’s unique flavour was recognised in the ‘Best Ice Cream’ category at the International Dairy Innovation Awards in Oslo, Norway.

The firm, which is Northern Ireland’s oldest speciality cheese company, has created several other ice cream flavours – nude, vanilla, original strawberry, honeycomb, raspberry and panacotta, and Valrhona chocolate.

“Creating deliciously different ice cream is a logical development for the company which now has an international reputation for quality dairy products, particularly an exceptional range of award-wining soft cheeses and butter,” said the firm’s marketing manager Peter Dunlop.
