Greek and Greek-style products accounted for 29% of US yogurt launches in year to June 2012
Launches of Greek and Greek-style products accounted for 29% of US yogurt launches in the 12 months to the end of June 2012, according to new data from Innova Market Insights.

Meanwhile, nearly 8% of global yogurt launches over the same period were positioned as Greek or Greek-style, said the firm.

There has also been a flurry of activity in the frozen Greek yogurt market in the US, with a frozen version of Stonyfield's Oikos organic brand, frozen Greek yogurt options from YoCrunch, Greek-style frozen yogurt products from Ben & Jerry’s and new Original and Greek-Style frozen yogurt options from Yoplait, said Lu Ann Williams, Research Manager at Innova Market Insights.

“The healthy yet indulgent image of the products offers consumers an affordable everyday treat option, with the additional bonus of a healthy, natural image.”
