6. Krones sells first closed-loop PET recycling line in US
A key focus at the Krones stand this week was its closed-loop PET recycling line. The company has just sold its first such system in the United States, and claims the trend is catching on now in the States, where the machine can process up to 2,000lb of food safe material per hour.
“It uses old PET bottles from curbside and turns them into 100% FDA approved virgin material. It’s real recycling – many other recycling systems just make a fiber out of it for carpet or clothing, that’s not a real recycling system, because you’re downgrading," Michael Skroblin, head of technical sales, North America, told BeverageDaily.com.
