Hermanus Versteijlen, European Commission
In 2015, Hermanus Versteijlen will retire as director of agricultural markets in the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI).
"He joined the Directorate General responsible for the Common Agricultural Policy (DG AGRI) when the milk quota system was about to be established and throughout his remarkable career he always stayed tuned to the dairy sector and the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)," said his nominator.
"His knowledge is comparable to none and he retires at a time when the end of the EU milk quota is in sight and it is very much to his credit that the EU dairy sector has had the possibility to develop in a CAP framework that will allow a smooth phasing out of the EU quota regime in 2015."
