Stora Enso is investing approximately €63m to improve its competitiveness in China and Sweden in the Consumer Board and Biomaterials divisions.

The company has announced it will invest €31m in a polyethylene (PE) coating line in a consumer board mill in Beihai, China, to begin operations in Q2, 2016.

It is also investing €16m in a chemical plant at a consumer board mill in Skoghall, Sweden, to improve the environmental performance of the mill, expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
In the Biomaterials division, Stora Enso is investing €16m to improve the environmental performance by reducing sulphur emissions of its mill in Skutskär, Sweden, also expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

€31m of these investments are part of the group’s 2016 capital expenditure forecast, which amounts to €680–€720m.
