FrieslandCampina starts construction of distribution center

The new 31,000 m2 facility will be used for storage and transfer of FrieslandCampina dairy products intended for the export markets, and can accommodate 45,000 pallets.
It will store and transfer dairy products from production locations in Beilen and Meppel.
When operational, the center will create about 35 jobs and it will comply with the most recent requirements in the areas of food safety and fire safety.
Currently, activities are spread over four warehouses in Hoogeveen, Heerenveen, Meppel and Veendam in the Netherlands.
Sustainable development
Apart from annual efficiency savings, a reduction of 1.5m transport kilometers will be achieved, which also means a reduction of 648,000kg of CO2 emission.
The new building will be certified by BREEAM as ‘very good,’ which means that the construction works are performed and in a sustainable way using sustainable materials.
