The Emirates Industry for Camel Milk & Products (Camelicious) has launched the world’s first camel milk infant formula at GULFOOD.

Saeed Juma Bin Subaih, general manager of Camelicious said the company has committed to engage in the innovation drive that the UAE leadership is pursuing.

“One of the UAE innovation related initiatives is the food industry, which plays a key and vital role in enhancing the public health and raising the productivity of the individual and society alike,” Bin Subaih said.

“Camel milk represents an integral part of the Arabic and Islamic culture in general and the UAE culture and heritage in particular. This milk genuinely complements the UAE values and traditions that are handed down from one generation to another.”

Mutasher Awadh Al Badry, Camelicious deputy general manager said the company developed the world’s first instant baby milk processed from camel milk in cooperation with international pioneers in the baby milk industry.

Camel milk benefits

The product, for those between one and three years of age, contains 10 times the amount of iron found in other types of milk, he said.

“This large quantity of iron helps to strengthen the blood, helps to protect children from anemia, and provides their bodies with vital minerals they need for daily life, including magnesium, potassium, copper, sodium and manganese.

“Camel milk is naturally rich in calcium that assists in building up bones, muscles and joints. It helps to protect from congenital malformations and other children growth related disorders,” Al Badry said.

He added that camel milk also contains a high proportion of vitamins C, B1 and B2, with a B1 content higher than in sheep, goat or cow milk. This milk contains a very high percentage of linoleic acid, as well as a group of essential amino acids.

Hope it will be available in the US, too

Posted by Maggy,

I am really curious about that. My son has a cow milk intolerance and gets goat milk formula from myorganicformula.com/products/holle-organic for this reason. I would love, if something like this would be available in the US,too. The more alternatives, the better.
