Fonterra has stopped its global CEO search to review its current portfolio and direction, and appointed its chief operating officer, Farm Source, Miles Hurrell, as interim CEO.

Fonterra opts for interim CEO

Fonterra Co-operative Group has announced Miles Hurrell will take over as the New Zealand cooperative’s interim chief executive with immediate effect, and the search for a new CEO will temporarily be halted.

The first meeting of the alliance will be on October 8, 2018 in Madison, Wisc.

Dairy Food Safety Alliance formed in Wisconsin

The Center for Dairy Research (CDR), the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin (DFW) and the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA) have come together to form the Dairy Food Safety Alliance to serve the Wisconsin dairy industry.

Local officials and members of partner groups involved with the facility in St. Johns, which will create at least 250 new jobs..

$470m cheese and whey facility coming to St. John’s, Mich.

St. Johns, Michigan, has been selected as the site of a new large-scale cheese and whey facility, Glanbia Nutritionals, Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) and Select Milk Producers Inc. (Select) said in a joint announcement.

Land O’Lakes acquires soil software company Agren

Land O’Lakes Inc. has announced that it has acquired Agren Inc., a company that develops soil health and conservation planning software. It will become a part of Land O’Lakes SUSTAIN, a farmer-focused division of the dairy company.

Future Consumer Ltd is part of the Future Group, which plans to launch 1,100 stores in India this year.

New Fonterra JV looks to Indian market

Fonterra has announced a joint venture partnership with one of India’s largest consumer companies, Future Consumer Ltd, to produce a range of consumer and foodservice dairy products for the Indian market.

HUL currently markets ice creams and frozen desserts under the Kwality Wall’s and Magnum brands.

In India, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has announced it has signed an agreement with Vijaykant Dairy and Food Products Limited (VDFPL) and its group company to acquire its ice cream and frozen desserts business consisting of its brand Adityaa Milk.

SMEs can win €200k funding for their technology

‘Does your robot have the potential to unlock real-life F&B challenges?’

The European Commission launched the ESMERA (European SMEs Robotics Applications) project this year and is offering €200k ($232,000) to European Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) who have robot technology that can unlock real-life problems.

The company is projecting a contraction compared with the previous year of about -1% for net revenue and within a range of -3% to 0% for EBITDA.

Parmalat H1 revenue down but profit grows
