IDF publishes 2019 World Dairy Situation report
The global report provides an understanding of the current macro supply and demand trends affecting the dairy sector.
The 200-page IDF publication provides an overview of the dairy sector in more than 50 countries around the world and contains information including a set of dairy industry statistics and insight on the wide range of policies, analyses and economic factors influencing the sector.
The 2019 edition includes statistics on production, consumption and trade in all regions of the world as well as specific observations from IDF member countries.
The IDF said it will help the reader to gain a better understanding and respond to the many challenges and opportunities facing the global dairy market, including population and income growth, consumer health concerns and changing dietary patterns.
Gilles Froment, chair of the IDF standing committee on dairy policies and economics, said, “The world dairy market is constantly growing and evolving, with global production of milk and dairy products increasing and fulfilling new needs and nutritional requirements in all regions and continents around the world.”
The publication offers insight on macro supply and demand trends in the dairy sector with data on global milk production and processing, pricing, consumption and trade, and brings insights into a dynamic and growing world dairy market for use by dairy farmers, dairy product manufacturers, governments, academia and, ultimately, consumers of those products around the globe.

The IDF World Dairy Situation Report 2019 was launched at the IDF World Dairy Summit 2019 in Istanbul, Turkey. The 2019 Summit brought together around 1,000 representatives of the global dairy sector, including government agencies, civil society, academia, farmers, processers and producers from around the world.
The 2020 IDF World Dairy Summit will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from September 28 – October 1, 2020.
