On January 1, 2021, the largest Italian company in the world of PDO cheeses was born from the merger between Agriform and Parmareggio, two Veneto and Emilia Romagna companies in the sectors of Grana Padano PDO and Parmigiano Reggiano PDO, respectively.

The three-year plan, which will debut with a turnover of almost €600m/$730m (2019 data), foresees a significant growth in turnover in the 2021-2024 period, with a corresponding improvement in margins.

The companies said the combination of production chains - made up of more than 2,000 breeders and about 20 dairies -  and commercial networks, as well as common cooperative roots, will create “an even more solid company and to add value to the products of our members.”

Agriform produces a variety of PDO cheeses, including Grana Padano, Parmigiano Reggiano, Asiago Fresco, Piave, Gorgonzola, Provolone, Pecorino Romano and Mascarpone. With a turnover of approximately €150m, Agriform has become the top company in Veneto for Grana Padano cheese and regional PDO cheeses. Each year, the company makes approximately 350,000 wheels of Grana Padano, 40,000 of Parmigiano Reggiano, 200,000 of Asiago and more than 120,000 wheels between Piave, Montasio and Monte Veronese cheeses.

Agriform exports to more than 50 countries around the world, with 53% of its turnover from foreign sales.

Modena-headquartered Parmareggio includes the Parmareggio, Parmissimo, Unirana, and Cuor di Fette brands. In 2019, Parmareggio and Grandi Salumifici Italiani merged to become the Bonterre Group.
