Machinery from Swiss butter and margarine processing company Egli AG, and its partner packaging company, Lithuania’s Fasa, is now available to UK producers through Dairy Machinery UK.

This includes the new ARM 100 form-filling and wrapping machine for butter and margarine, which has a higher output rate.

Previously, Egli had sold products in the UK, through a dealer. However, Thomas Hardy, from Dairy Machinery UK, told DairyReporter that the dealer could not have provided any services or spare parts.

Extensive experience

Dairy Machinery UK said it has extensive experience with the Egli and Fasa machinery, and a good relationship with the companies, and offering spare parts and service will solve any issues current users may have.

Hardy said, “Normally, we hold the spare parts in stock; if it’s a major part we just need the model of the machine and the part number from the manual book so we can order this in.

“We achieve low costs by ordering in bulk parts. Egli and Dairy Machinery UK keep in very close contact not only because of cooperation but to bring to our clients the speed needed in services and parts.”

New ARM 100

Dairy Machinery UK can not only sell the various products, but also install, service and repair them.

It also works with dairies and creameries to determine their needs before providing a solution.

“You can't pre-build a machine without knowing what the client needs,” Hardy said.

“Building a machine for, say a 250g butter pack, you might have 10 clients that want a 200g pack. With the questions that we set, they answer the questions, and we build the machine that they need.”

The newest equipment from Fasa is the ARM 100, which Hardy says provides an increased output rate.  The ARM 100 can work with briquettes from 100-250g, and output between 60 and 125 pieces per minute.

Made from stainless steel, it features an integrated central lubrication system and improved product feeding system.

Egli and Fasa

Fasa and Egli joined forces in November 2016.

At the time of the deal, Karolis Samušis, CEO of Fasa, said that it gave Fasa opportunity to reach new markets, new clients and new segments.

Rudenz Egli, CEO of Egli AG said that by keeping in contact with distributors, Egli realized the importance of a full range of products, therefore the cooperation with Fasa was beneficial for both companies.

EGLI AG has developed and manufactured butter, spread and margarine technology since 1888.

Fasa was founded in 1959, and manufactures packaging equipment for the dairy industry - for butter, margarine and other food products, which are exported to more than 50 countries.

Its annual turnover in 2015 was €5m ($5.4m).
