Nisshin OilliO increases oil production in China

Japanese vegetable oil producer Nisshin OilliO announced yesterday
that it has completed the construction of its factory in the Liao
Ning Province of China.

The new facility will produce vegetable oils and fats and soybean meal for its subsidairy Dalian Nisshin Oil Mills.

Nisshin OilliO founded Dalian Nisshin Oil Mills in 1988 and began full-scale production of Nisshin salad oil, soybean meal and other vegetable oils two years later.

The company commented in a statement that the new plant - the company's second - was necessary to provide for the increasing Chinese market for edible oils and soybean meal.

The factory - built and kitted out at a cost of US$30m - was officially opened on Tuesday. It covers an area of 135,000m2 and will churn out 600,000 tons of soybeans per year.

The Beiliang area of Liao Ning Province was chosen as the site of the new factory, according to Nisshin OilliO, because it is the largest site serving the needs of Northeastern China for foodstuffs.

"It is not only a major logistics site but also one of the largest Asian export-import ports for foodstuffs that have berths for multiple Panamax-class ships," added the company.
