One-Shot deal delivers faster milkshake system

UK equipment supplier One-Shot will tap in to the growing trend for
flavoured milk and juice drinks by launching a new system to make
smoothies and milkshakes cleaner and faster.

One-Shot has combined its Revolver system with equipment from Italian slush machine supplier Ugolini, so that slush can be added to blending powder straight into the cup in which the beverage will be served.

Once the ingredients have been added, the cup, which can be either paper or plastic, is inserted into a blending machine for 10 seconds to produce the final product.

One-Shot said the key to the process was its smart blending lid, which includes an impeller (rotating mixer) to create the product inside. The firm has now produced a reusable lid that only needs to be rinsed in between blending.

One-Shot will launch the new system at the Anuga expo in Cologne (Germany), starting 8 October.

"Our investment in Anuga this year will be the biggest ever for the company. Our philosophy of simplicity and hygiene, all covered by more than 200 patents, is reflected right across our product range, giving our customers unrivalled protection," said One-Shot managing director Shane McGill.

And the firm is positioning itself well to take advantage of strong consumer trends towards juice and flavoured milk drinks as part of a widespread rejection of fizzy sodas.

Flavour development is now a big focus for dairy firms looking to add value to their products and stop consumers from treating milk purely as a commodity.

Juice-based drinks too have seen sales soar in both developed and emerging markets recently as consumer health trends continue to grow.
