General Mills agreed to buy the Mountain High Yoghurt business and Mountain High brand from Dean Foods, the company has said.

General Mills said it would retain the Mountain High brand name, which will come under the company’s Yoplait USA division.

President of General Mills’ Yoplait division Becky O’Grady said: "Mountain High is an exceptional all-natural yogurt brand that brings with it a strong heritage of quality. We are excited about this opportunity to double our large-size yogurt business with this strong brand – and we are committed to maintaining the great-tasting, all-natural Mountain High Yoghurt products that consumers love.”

The deal is expected to be completed in early 2011, the company said, subject to certain conditions and regulatory approvals. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
