Ecolab unveils new clean-in-place formulations

Improved performance and a reduction in carbon footprint are benefits claimed by Ecolab for its new range of clean-in-place (CIP) formulations for food and beverage processors.

The company said its new ten-product Mip range will deliver greater cleaning efficiency and excellent environmental performance.

Due to be launched in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in the fourth quarter of 2011, Ecolab said the range has been designed to replace its current caustic-based CIP cleaners.

The new formulations cover all CIP applications such as tank, pipe and process equipment, said the global cleaning and sanitizing giant. They also meet all REACH requirements and new Chemical Labelling and Packaging (CLP) regulations.

“These innovative formulations also have a unique, patent-pending composition that optimises environmental performance as they are used within the processing environment.”​ said Ecolab.

Salt load reduction

The company highlighted Mip’s capacity to reduce hard complexing agents, such as EDTA, in most formulations whilst maintaining optimal water hardness compatibility.

Ecolab anticipated the formulation changes would cut salt load in effluent by over 30 per cent and yield an estimated 15 per cent carbon footprint improvement in comparison to the existing products.

The new formulations also demonstrate how we at Ecolab use our expertise in research, development and engineering to enable our customers to achieve their cleaning and sustainability targets," ​said Andreas Weilinghoff, senior vice president and general manager, Food and Beverage, EMEA.
