Spanish yogurt producer Leche Pascual is considering building a $30m manufacturing facility in The Philippines in 2014, according to reports within the country.

The Philippine Star reported that government officials met with executives from the dairy firm yesterday, and that Leche Pascual had already partnered with native firm Asia Brewery, to distribute its non-refrigerated canned yogurts in supermarkets.

The paper said the planned manufacturing facility was expected to employ around 200 workers, with yogurts produced at the facility but cream bases used imported from Australia and New Zealand due to lack of native supply.

Panlilio said that Leche Pascual was considering using The Philippines as a platform for expansion into the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries: The Philippines, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia. Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
